In short
You have fourteen days to change your mind, including on the e-book. If it is not for you, you get your money back. You do not have to explain why.
For digital products, a seller is allowed to take that cooling-off period away by having you waive it in advance. Many online shops do exactly that. We do not. We are uncomfortable selling someone a book they have not been able to read yet and asking them to give up their cooling-off period at the same time.
How it works
The period. You have fourteen days, counted from the day after you placed your order. So not from the moment you download the book or start reading it. Order on 1 March and your cooling-off period runs until the end of 15 March.
How to use it. Send a message to boeken@nieuwenhuyse.nl within those fourteen days. An ordinary e-mail is enough; it does not have to be registered post and it does not have to be in formal language. Include your order number and it will go faster. You may also use the model form at the bottom of this page, but you are not obliged to.
You do not have to give a reason. Feel free to give one if you want – we read it, and it makes the book better.
Your money back. You get the full purchase price back, by the same method you paid with, within fourteen days of your message reaching us. In practice we usually do it the same week. No costs are deducted.
A free book. If you paid nothing, there is nothing to refund. If you do not want it, simply delete it; there is nothing further to arrange.
And the book? Please delete the files from your devices. Your download links will stop working afterwards. We do not check this and we do not chase anyone; it is a matter of decency, and so far that works fine.
What this is not meant for
This arrangement exists so that you dare to buy a book you have not read. It is not meant as a free library.
There is a free sample of eighteen pages on the book page – title page, table of contents and the full introduction. You can page through it in your browser and download it. Read that first. If the tone does not appeal to you there, the rest of the book probably will not either, and then neither of us has any bother.
Business buyers
Under the law the right of withdrawal is given to consumers only. If you buy in the course of a business or a profession, this arrangement does not apply. If you still run into something, e-mail us; we are not a vending machine.
What you keep regardless
Quite apart from the cooling-off period, you are simply entitled to a product that works. If a file does not open, is damaged, a chapter is missing, or the download e-mail never arrives – that is a defect, and we will fix it however many days have passed. E-mail boeken@nieuwenhuyse.nl with your order number.

*You do not have to use this form. An ordinary e-mail saying that you are cancelling the purchase is just as valid. It is here because the law requires us to make it available.*
